Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Sunday said that 3.5 crore people in the state will be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in the first phase.
He said that out of 4.30 crore people in Odisha, 3.5 core will receive the benefits of the AB PM-JAY and GJAY in the first phase of their implementation.
Budgetary provisions for these two health insurance schemes have already been made and cards will be issued to the beneficiaries soon. Beneficiaries will receive the benefits in assurance mode, he said.
Under the BSKY card, beneficiaries receive treatment at only 956 empanelled hospitals, while the AB PM-JAY and GJAY will provide treatment facilities to beneficiaries at many more hospitals across the country, the minister said.
GJAY, which has replaced the previous BJD government’s flagship Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), along with the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), will provide cashless treatment facilities to patients in the state.
