3 Airports In Odisha To Get Makeover

Bhubaneswar: While two additional flights are to take off from Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda, three more airports in Odisha are set to get a makeover, informed Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy on Wednesday.

Two additional flights connecting Jharsuguda with Kolkata and Bengaluru are to be introduced during the winter schedule. Besides, decision has being taken to provide additional fire services and police manpower at the airport.

Land acquisition for a project worth Rs 55 crore is underway at Jeypore Airport. Decision has been taken to construct terminal building, runways and taxi-ways, said Tripathy.

There is also a need of land acquisition for Utkela Airport, a review meeting with the District Collector was also held today for the same, he added.

Work is also in progress at Rourkela Airport which is managed by SAIL. While the runway at the airport is 30,000 feet in length, there is a need to increase the width, said Tripathy.
