3 Arrested For Burning Alive Youth In Angul

Angul: Police today arrested three persons including two women in connection with the heinous murder of a youth Rajkishore Padhan, who was burnt alive in Kadalimunda village under Handapa police limits in Angul district on Tuesday.

The arrested are Basanti Padhan(60), mother of the deceased; Subash Padhan, elder brother of the deceased and Santana Padhan (35) alias Manju, elder sister of the deceased.

Police have seized one cudgel used in the crime, three petrol bottles and match box with half burnt match sticks.

As per the FIR lodged by one Ajaya Behera, a fellow villager of the deceased at the Handapa police station, deceased Rajkishore had a quarrel with his mother Basanti, elder brother Subash and and elder sister Santana on Tuesday at around 5 PM, said a press note issued by the police.

Rajkishore allegedly abused them in filthy language and threatened to kill them.

Aggrieved with the deceased activities, the arrested accused persons assualted him with a cudgel after tying him to an electric pole in front of their house.

Later they untied Rajkishore from the pole, poured petrol on his body and set him afire.
The deceased before falling unconscious screamed for help.

Ajay with the help of other villagers shifted Rajkishore to the Sub Divisional Hospital at Athmallik where attending physicians declared him brought dead.

Police have sent the deceased’s body for autopsy and have arrested the accused persons today.
The accused persons have been forwarded to court while further investigation in the case is underway.
