Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Duryodhan Bagarti (35), whose half-burnt body was discovered in the Chunaghati forest under Khajuripada police limits in Kandhamal district.
The arrested have been identified as Prakash Hansha, Mukesh Hansha, and Jitendra Guru, all residents under Khajuripada police jurisdiction.
According to the police, Duryodhan, a resident of Khaliberna village, had been missing since January 4. His family filed a missing person complaint after failing to locate him. Villagers later found his charred body in the forest, prompting police to investigate.
Tikabali IIC Prajna Ritambhara Kar said, “Seven months ago, Prakash Hansha’s brother died. The accused suspected that Duryodhan was involved in witchcraft and, allegedly, killed him in revenge.”
All the accused will be produced before the court today, police said.
