Bhubaneswar: Three candidates of the BJD, Sulata Deo, Manas Mangaraj and Sasmit Patra were elected to the Rajya Sabha, uncontested, on Friday. Both Congress and the BJP, who do not have numbers in the Assembly, did not field candidates for the election to the Upper House of the Parliament.
Patra has been elected to the Rajya Sabha for the second time while Deo and Mangaraj are first-timers to the Parliament. The candidates were awarded the certificate of election by the returning officer here today. They thanked Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik and said that Odisha’s concerns will be rightfully placed in the Parliament.
