3 Congress Workers Injured During “Intra-Party” Clash In Puri

Puri: Three workers of Odisha Congress were injured in an alleged clash between two factions of the party during a State Executive Meeting held in Puri on Monday.

Party workers Alok Das, Asutosh Mishra and Swapnajit Rai have sustained severe injuries on their head and various parts of the body. However, the party leaders claimed it to be the handiwork of outsiders and there are no internal disturbances in the party.

The incident occurred in presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Odisha Jitendra Singh, AICC secretary G Rudra Raju and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik.

OPCC President condemned the issue and said that if it is an intra-party clash, proper action will be taken after a probe by senior leaders. If it is the handiwork of any other party or person, it can be termed as intolerance, he added.

Meanwhile, police have detained a person who was roaming on the premises of the Congress headquarters at Puri with an iron rod concealed on his back. He was caught during an attempt to flee after seeing the police.
