Bhubaneswar: The Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department is all set to organise the State’s flagship Agri-fair, ‘Krushi Odisha 2023’, which is scheduled from February 16 to 18, at the Biju Patnaik Playground here at Baramunda. The theme of this year’s event is, ‘Emerging Technologies in Agriculture’.
Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain inaugurated the website of Krushi Odisha today and took review of the upcoming event. Principal Secretary of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, Arabinda Padhee; Principal Secretary of Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department, Suresh Kumar Vashishth; & other senior officers were present during the meeting.
While addressing the media, Padhee emphasized on usage of technology to enhance efficiency, reduce drudgery, & combat manpower shortage. He said that decentralized training & capacity building is being provided to farmers to make them adept in emerging technologies in agriculture & allied sectors.
Krushi Odisha 2023 will focus on showcasing and providing information on the latest developments in the fields of production technologies, agriculture mechanisation, application of ICT in agriculture, infrastructure development, market linkage, easy access to credit, and the utilisation of improved agriculture inputs.
With a total of 212 stalls from different categories of agriculture and allied sectors, the event will provide a befitting platform for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, government institutions, and banking sector institutions to come together and exchange ideas.
Additionally, 10 thematic seminars (‘Krushak Siksha Sibira’), will be held to make farmers aware of the recent technologies in agriculture. These seminars will cover topics such as – Humble Millets – Hope for the Future, Sustainable Seed Systems, The New Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture, and more.
During the evenings, progressive farmers, agripreneurs, and self-help groups from 30 districts of the state will be felicitated for excellence in the agriculture and allied sectors. Quiz competitions will also be held to make the event more exciting.
Krushi Odisha 2023 will be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook, making it accessible for farmers and other stakeholders across the state.
For the first time, Regional Krushi Mela was held at four places – Sambalpur, Baripada, Berhampur, and Koraput. It witnessed a huge footfall of farmers showing their enthusiasm to implement new technologies in agriculture and allied sectors.
Moreover, Farm Mechanisation Mela is being held in all districts of the State to promote the adoption of the latest farm implements.
