Bhubaneswar: A 3-day-long Katak Kite Utsav organised by Cuttack district administration under the banner of Mission Shakti to mark Raja celebration was inaugurated at Barabati Palace in Cuttack on Wednesday. Many Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) from Cuttack are showcasing their products in the venue ranging from eco-friendly jewellery to special homemade cold drinks to Bara and Machha Ambila.
Jagruti Self Help Group from Ward No 14, Khatbin Sahi led by Kukumina Das has showcased beautiful eco-friendly jewellery made using sustainable materials. The members of the SHG group are trained by Green Queen of Odisha, Priyadasini Das. “I find the eco-friendly products made of bamboo and waste wood are very attractive, and I bought couple of pairs,” said a customer Truptilata.
Another unique stall selling home-made drinks by Nandini Devi SHG from Ward No 30 led by Jayashree Das from Rajabagicha is attracting lot of customers. Similarly, another stall in the name of Diganta Parivar are selling very unique Bara and Machha Ambila, a speciality of Shankarpur, Cuttack.
Most of the women SHGs seem to be super excited and happy for this opportunity to sell their products during this Raja Utsav. Many other SHG groups from different wards are selling different products such as coir craft, handloom, handicraft and food products made by women. During this Raja Utsav, the venue has become a hangout place for the city dwellers.
