**Bhubaneswar: ** Odisha Police Headquarters has decided to organize its three-day long Senior Police Officers’ (IPS officers) conference to discuss on the law and order situation and crime while focus will be on the new challenges being faced.
Speaking to media persons today, Odisha DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma informed, “Preparations have started to organize a three-day Senior Police Officers’ Conference tentatively on January 17, 18 and 19. This conference is annual. Its agenda contains law and order, crime and related other topics.”
He further informed, “In this annual conference, we have decided that we should focus on the relevant topic rather than stereotype. There would be statistical presentation. Focus of the discussion will be on the new challenges being faced by police, emerging trends in crime, how to improve conviction rate, how to improve more on the use of forensic science.”
“Similarly in the law and order context, discussion will be held on how to make it more effective. Also to tackle the mob psychology as immense damage is being caused to both private and public property. Hon’ble Supreme Court has already set guideline. We will be deliberating on its procedure and how soon we can book such elements. Responsibilty has been fixed on those elements those who resort to such damages. Apart from criminal responsibility, those elements will also be liable to financial responsibility,” the Odisha DGP stated.
