Bhubaneswar: A three-day State Level e-Governance workshop commenced today at Dr. N. Sheshagiri Memorial Hall, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Bhubaneswar.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who emphasized the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in accelerating government welfare schemes in the state.

During the inaugural session, young scientists from NIC showcased their expertise through innovative models and simulations powered by artificial intelligence, covering 14 diverse topics. Chief Secretary Ahuja, while addressing the gathering, highlighted various AI applications already being implemented by Central and State Governments. He also provided valuable suggestions to the participating scientists on enhancing efficiency, fostering innovation, and leveraging AI to solve real-world challenges.

The event featured R.S. Gopalan, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, as the guest of honor. In his address, Gopalan shared insights on “Policy Intelligence Powering Generative AI Safety and Governance,” underlining the importance of policy frameworks in shaping AI applications.

The workshop saw active participation from NIC scientists, District Informatics Officers, and staff, who engaged in in-depth discussions about the practical applications of AI in upcoming projects.

To mark the occasion, two publications—Project Profile for the Year 2025 and a booklet on the Gov.AI Exhibition—were unveiled by the distinguished guests.

The program was presided over by Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer, NIC, Odisha, while Surendra Nath Behera delivered the vote of thanks. Jayanta Kumar Mishra, Head of the Training Division at NIC, Odisha, skillfully conducted the event.
