Cuttack: Three persons, including a minor, drowned in two separate incidents reported from Cuttack and Keonjhar districts of Odisha on Sunday.
In the first incident, a minor boy, identified as Suryakant Majhi, drowned while bathing in the Kathajodi River in Cuttack.
According to reports, the boy suddenly went missing in the water. Locals alerted the fire brigade, and a rescue operation was launched.
After over an hour of search, Suryakant was pulled out of the river in a critical condition. He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
In a separate incident, two tourists drowned while bathing at the popular Patahara Waterfall under Harichandanpur block in Keonjhar district.
While the identities of the deceased are yet to be officially confirmed, preliminary reports suggest one was from Jajpur and the other from Jagatsinghpur district.
A fire brigade team recovered both bodies following an extensive search operation that lasted nearly an hour.
