Nayagarh: Three people were killed and one critically injured in a horrific head-on collision between two heavily loaded trucks on National Highway 57 (Khordha-Balangir) near Takara in Nayagarh district on Saturday evening.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 6:00 PM when the trucks collided while reportedly attempting to avoid a motorcycle. The impact was so severe that three victims died instantly at the scene.
The injured person, along with the deceased, was rushed to the Daspalla Community Health Center. Medical authorities report the survivor is in critical condition, raising concerns the death toll could rise.
Police responded swiftly upon receiving the alert. They secured the accident site, seized the bodies for post-mortem examination, and impounded both trucks involved.
A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation into the exact sequence of events is underway.
The bodies will be handed over to the families following the post-mortem scheduled for Sunday.
