Jajpur: Three persons, including a woman patient, were killed as an ambulance they were travelling in collided with a truck from behind. The incident took place near Barchana on NH-16, late night on Saturday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, while an injured person (a relative of the patient) has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The ambulance was headed to SCB MCH, Cuttack with a woman patient and her attendant. The tyre of a truck ahead of the ambulance burst following which the speeding ambulance hit it from behind and was crushed.
The driver of the ill-fated emergency vehicle, his assistant and the woman were killed on the spot. The injured person was rushed to the local hospital and later shifted to Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
