Angul: Three persons were killed and two others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a speeding Hyva truck hit the auto-rickshaw they were traveling by near Shankhpur Khalagaon under Bantala police limits in Odisha’s Angul district on late on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified as Pathambar Pradhan, Gundicha Pradhan and the auto driver Muna Pradhan. While the first two died on the spot, the auto driver was taken in a critical condition to Angul General Hospital where he died during treatment.
Two others, Pitambhar’s wife Jambhu Padhan and his daughter, sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Bantala community health center (CHC).
The accident occurred at around 12:30 am when five persons were on their way to Kulasingha in the auto-rickshaw. According to reports, Pitambhar along with his family had gone to drop his elder daughter at her in-law’s house after the Mahashivratri jagarn. The fatal accident occurred when they were returning to their village.
