Sambalpur: Three persons, including a minor, were killed and five others sustained critical injuries when an auto-rickshaw crashed against a stationary truck near the toll plaza at Padhanpali in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Punam Bag (13), Nemsika Bag (8), and Benudhar Bag (19), all residents of Bhamarmal village under Kesinga police limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
The injured have been identified as Baidehi Bag, Purbi Bag, Jayanti Bag, Badal Bag, and Pinky Sika, all residents of Bhamarmal village.
According to reports, the accident occurred when an auto-rickshaw coming from Salasar Rice Mill in New Khurigaon with six passengers was going toward Khetrajpur railway station crashed against a stationary truck.
All the injured were rushed to the VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla where three passengers succumbed to their injuries during treatment, while the others have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot and seized both vehicles and launched a probe into the mishap.
