Dhenkanal: Three labourers were killed in a bus accident near Khairamunda village on National Highway No 53 under Parajang police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sagar Pradhan, Pinu Sahu and Sumant Parida of Naupalkateni village in Mundailo panchayat under Parajang police limits.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the three labourers were on their way to Khairamunda village on a motorbike for rod binding of a roof. Suddenly, a passenger bus, Bholanath, hit the motorbike and Sagar died on the spot. The other two riders, Pinu and Sumant, were rescued in critical condition and admitted to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later, they succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
Soon after the mishap, an angry crowd started a roadblock the road demanding compensation to the kin of the deceased. As a result, traffic on the Talcher-Duburi route came to a standstill. Vehicles were seen stranded on both sides of the road. The Parajang police arrived at the spot and tried to appease the agitators.
