Cuttack: Three Range Offices of the Odisha Fire Service were inaugurated simultaneously on Friday. To mark the occasion, Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra attended the ceremony as chief guest at Central Range Fire Office which has been built with a Control room at Reserve Police Line here at Buxibazar
The Central Range building has been constructed by OPHWC at an estimated cost of Rs 3.83 crore. The four-storied building consists reception, parking, store room, electrical room, and Drivers rest room with toilets. The first floor has a conference hall, Office chambers of Fire Officer, Deputy Fire Officer, Assistant Fire Officer and Station Officer. Similarly, the second floor has offices while the third floor accommodates the Control room, Barrack, MV Section, Computer Section, Fire Alarm System, and Fire Hydrant System, Lightning Arrester, elevator and water vat.
The Central Range office building is also a Model building on Fire Safety and Protection for high rise structures depicting separate block for staircases and emergency exits said Director General of Fire Services Santosh Upadhyay, who was present on the occasion. Among others, Cuttack MLA Md Moquim and DCP Pinak Mishra attended the function.
Central Range covers ten districts – Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak while it has four territorial Deputy Fire Officers working at Balasore, Puri, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. There are 129 Fire Stations functioning under Central Range, Cuttack.
Similarly, the Southern Range Fire Office building, with Workshop, Control room and Transit Hostel for 20 persons at Berhampur has been constructed by OPHWC at an estimated cost of Rs 3.04 crore. Southern Range covers ten districts – Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Malkangiri. Southern Range has three territorial Deputy Fire Officers working at Berhampur, Koraput and Bhawanipatna. There are 109 Fire Stations functioning under Southern Range, Berhampur.
The Northern Range Fire Office building with Transit Hostel for 30 persons at Sambalpur has been constructed by OPHWC at an estimated cost of Rs 1.89 crore. The Northern Range covers ten districts i.e. Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Baragarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Balangir, Subarnapur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar. Northern Range has three territorial Deputy Fire Officers working at Angul, Sambalpur and Rourkela. There are 103 Fire Stations functioning under Northern Range, Sambalpur, the Fire Department informed.
