Bhubaneswar: There is a reason for students of Odisha to rejoice as three educational institutions from the State have made it into the ‘Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019’. These are IIT Bhubaneswar, NIT Rourkela and KIIT University.
As per the ranking results published, IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela have been placed between 601-800 ranks out of 1,258 institutions in the world.
Meanwhile, KIIT deemed university has been placed in 1000+ ranking category.
IIT Bhubaneswar has scored 19.1 in Teaching, 10.3 in Research, 64.8 in Citations, 35.6 in Industry Income and 17.4 in International Outlook. Key statistics include- 9.4 students per staff, total 1016 total number of students, 15:85 female to male ratio.
NIT Rourkela has scored 26.1 in Teaching, 13.2 in Research, 44.2 in Citations, 37.3 in Industry Income and 16.4 in International Outlook. The key statistics include- 20 students per staff, total 6010 students, 19:81 female to male ratio and 4% international students.
KIIT University has scored 15.3 in Teaching, 7.5 in Research, 24.4 in Citations, 34.3 in Industry Income, 15.1 in International Outlook. Key statistics include- 14 students per staff, 19633 total number of students, 37:63 female to male ratio and 2% international students.
Total 49 institutions from India have found a place in the list. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, remains the highest ranked institution from the country followed by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, Bombay and Roorkee with Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara University from Karnataka making a debut this year to complete the country's top five.
The list has been topped by Oxford University followed by the University of Cambridge and Stanford University. While Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked fourth, California Institute of Technology is in the fifth position among top universities in the world.
