Nabarangpur: At least three security personnel have been killed and 14 others injured when a polling party bus carrying them skidded off and fell 15 feet down the road near a turning at Sorishpadar near Mokia under Papadahandi police limits in Nabarangpur district this evening.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the driver of the polling party bus lost control over the wheel.
The deceased have been identified as Ravi Bisoyi, CH Sesa Rao, and Jagabandhu Gouda.
The polling party bus was moving from Nabarangpur Police Reserve headquarters to Kosagumuda block for the third phase of the three-tier panchayat polls. The bus was carrying 36 gramrakhis.
Papadahandi police and Fire Service personnel have rushed to the spot and are engaged in rescue operations with the help of locals.
Nabarangpur Collector Kamal Lochan Mishra and SP PS Purushottam Das are supervising the rescue operations.
The injured have been admitted to the Papadahandi Community Health Centre (CHC) while the critically injured have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital here.
