Bhubaneswar: Three wagons of a goods train derailed near a level crossing at Belpahar in Jharsuguda district on Sunday.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm while the train was en route to Belpahar station. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to reports, the derailment involved three wagons along with the rear cabin of the train, leading to a temporary halt in train services on the route. Vehicular movement across the level crossing was also affected until the track was cleared.
Upon being informed, railway officials and technical staff rushed to the site and began operations to remove the derailed wagons and restore normal rail services. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
Passengers and local residents reported delays in train schedules and minor traffic snarls near the level crossing due to the incident.
