Bhubaneswar: Vigilance Special Judge, Angul, on Friday convicted Pankajini Biswal, a former junior clerk at the Angul Tehshil office, in a bribery case wherein she demanded and accepted a bribe from the complainant in respect of two mutation cases for issuance of ROR (patta) and awarded her 3 years rigorous imprisonment along with Rs 5,000 fine. In case of default, the convict will have to undergo further imprisonment for two months.
Pankajini was convicted under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Odisha Vigilance had lodged a case (No 8/2017 U/s 13(2)r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988) against Pankajini Biswal at the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station and issued a charge sheet in 2017.
