Dhenkanal: In a concerning health incident, at least 30 villagers from Sahala village under Kankadahad block in Dhenkanal district have been hospitalized at the sub-division hospital in Kamakhyanagar after suffering from acute diarrhoeal disease over the past two days.
Health officials suspect that contaminated drinking water and inadequate sanitation may be the causes behind the outbreak.
Upon receiving information about the situation, a team of health officials from Birasal promptly visited the village to assess the situation.
They spoke with the affected individuals, provided necessary medicines and Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), and collected blood samples for further testing.
Additionally, water samples were sent for analysis and the villagers were advised to take medicine regularly and boil their drinking water to prevent further illness.
In response to the crisis, a volunteer team from Birasal also reached the village, distributing bread and dry food to the affected families. To combat the spread of infection, they sprinkled bleaching powder around the village to disinfect the area.
