Paddy fire

Golamunda(Kalahandi): Around 300 quintals of paddy stacked in a thrashing yard at Bagpada in Uchala village under Golamunda tahasil in Kalahandi district was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday.

According to reports, paddy belonging to six to seven farmers was stacked in the thrashing yard. Suddenly, a fire broke out in the paddy stack kept in the thrashing yard for some hitherto unidentified reason.

All efforts by locals to douse the blaze went in vain. Later, on being informed Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze.

However, by the time the fire was extinguished nearly 80 percent of the paddy in the stack was reduced to ashes.
