Baripada: Police have seized around 3,000 litres of illicit country liquor from a pickup van during a vehicle check at Krushna Chandra Golei under the Baripada Town police limits on Wednesday. Two persons have been detained in connection with the case.
According to reports, the contraband was being transported from Ambadali in the Shyamakhunta area to Deuli in 30 tubes.
The police have detained the pickup van driver, Shantanu Dey, from Khunta block in Mayurbhanj district, and his helper, Samai Murmu, from the Baliapal area in Balasore district.
Both detainees are currently being interrogated by the police.
