Bhubaneswar: The State government today decided to hold the 31st Odisha State Film Awards and 8th Tele Awards in March.
The Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department will publish an advertisement seeking entries for the awards and the last date for submission of entries has been fixed as February 20, said an official press release.
Last year the awards ceremony could not be organised due to Covid.
Every year applications for the awards ceremony are invited in 27 categories for film and 20 categories in Television.
This year Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) has been vested with the responsibility of organising the awards ceremony.
However, selection of jury and finalising of awards will be done by the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The meeting delved on programmes to be undertaken for greater publicity of the awards ceremony.
Things like getting the event inaugurated by an eminent guest keeping with Covid protocol, conduct of cultural programmes by popular artists, increasing the prize money, etc. figured during the deliberations at the meeting.
Tourism Department will organise special programmes to attract tourists to the event.
Odia Language Literature & Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Industry Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra, Chairman of OFDC Kuna Tripathy, Principal Secretary Culture Department Bishnupada Sethi, Tourism Director Sachin Ramchandra Jadav, OFDC Secretary Nitin Bhanudas Jawale, Joint Secretary Tourism Department Durga Prasad Mohapatra were prominent among those who took part in the meeting.
