Bhubaneswar: As many as 34 persons from the Scheduled Caste community in Koraput district converted from Hinduism to Christianity during the last ten years.
The figures were presented through a written reply by Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond in Odisha Assembly on Friday in response to a question regarding religious conversions in the Koraput.
The year-wise count of reported conversions shows three persons in 2026, six in 2025, and the highest number of eleven in 2024. Earlier years recorded one conversion each in 2023, 2022, and 2020, five in 2019, two in 2018, three in 2017, and one in 2016.
