Koraput: Nandapur police in Koraput district have seized 35 kilograms of ganja and arrested eight persons including five college students involved in the trafficking of the contraband.
Police have also seized the car used for trafficking the contraband.
“Five college students headed by Sadananda Guntha were transporting 35 kg of ganja along with Bhisma Guntha, Jogesh Khada, Damodar Guntha of Daleiput village and Damburudhar Khara of Arlaput village in a car to supply to Rahul Kumar and Sadam Hussain of Champaran in Bihar who were waiting at Damanjodi Railway Station to receive the contraband which was procured from Laxmidhar Khila of Katwa,” informed Nandapur SDPO Sanjay Mohapatra.
The SDPO said that a case has been registered at the Nandapur police in this connection.
Mohapatra informed that the eight persons have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and would be forwarded to court.
Prafulla Lakra IIC Nandapur is investigating the case, he added.
