Bhubaneswar: As many as 1931 cases pertaining to cyber crimes were registered in Odisha in 2020 and 366 persons were arrested in this connection, informed Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra in the State Assembly today.
The Minister made the statement while replying to a supplementary raised by the leader of Congress Legislative Party Narasingh Mishra during the debate on the adjournment motion moved by BJP members on ‘Deteriorating Law and Order Situation in the State’.
The Minister said that similarly, 1,475 cyber crime cases were registered in the State in 2019.
Informing that the State government is taking active steps to contain this new crime, Mishra said that recently, 185 police personnel have been provided with training to investigate cyber crime.
He further informed that due to expeditious action by cyber crime units Rs 21.31 lakh has been recovered.
Police through different awareness programmes have been raising the awareness level of people on cyber crime, he added.
