Bhubaneswar: As many as 3,732 nursing officers on Wednesday joined various medical colleges and hospitals of Odisha. For this, a ‘Nijukti Parva’ was organized at Kalinga Stadium.
Attending the program, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik advised the newly joined nursing officers to follow the ideals of Pandit Gopbandhu Das, Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa. The Chief Minister said that if they work inspired by the ideals of these idols of service with selfless determination, they can create a unique identity for themselves.
Congratulating the new officers and their families for joining a great service like patient care, the Chief Minister said that the motto of our health service is that ‘every life is precious’. We are working with this ideal, he added.
In this regard, nursing officers have an important role, he said that it is their responsibility to ensure that every person can get good service. You alone can instil hope in the patient.
“Your dedication and service can increase the confidence of the patient. Nursing officers also worked very well with doctors during Corona”.
The Chief Minister said that Nursing Officers had a huge role in the success of the Covid management.
Highlighting the 5T initiative of the State government, the Chief Minister said that our health care system has become effective through this principle.
“Today everyone can feel the transformation in healthcare in government hospitals. Rich and poor everyone is getting good medical facilities for free in government hospitals. In the healthcare sector, a lot of positive feedback is coming through the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative. It is very encouraging,” the Chief Minister said.
Attending the programme, Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, we have always made efforts to provide adequate and better quality health services to the people of the state.
He said that by establishing new medical colleges, improving health infrastructure and providing new employment, the provision of better health services to all has been ensured.
Exchanging views with the newly appointed Nursing Officers in the program, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian said, “As you are happy to join the new job today, you should also try to make the person who comes to you for treatment happy. Serve them well”.
He further said that people go to the temple for merit, but you have got such a job where you will get blessings of God and earn merit by caring for patients. He called upon them to serve everyone with transparency.
Chief Secretary PK Jena said that the recruitment of 3732 new Nursing Officers will further strengthen our healthcare sector and help in achieving our goals. He advised everyone to work with dedication.
Among the newly recruited nursing officers, Lipsa Naik of Sundergarh Government Medical College, Dibyajyoti Khanda of Mayurbhanj and Mita Bohidar of Puri Shree Jagannath Medical College among others narrated their experiences in the recruitment process. They expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister and the 5T Chairman for completing their recruitment process in a transparent manner and in a very short time. They said that they would work with dedication to build a ‘Healthy Odisha, Happy Odisha’.
Health and Family Welfare Secretary Shalini Pandit delivered the welcome address and Dr. Ramachandra Raut, Director of Nursing offered a vote of thanks in the programme.
