4 Arrested For Allegedly Planning Dacoity In Rourkela’s Timber Colony

Bhubaneswar: Four persons were arrested by the Plantsite police on Monday afternoon for allegedly planning a dacoity in the Timber Colony area of Rourkela.

The arrested persons have been identified as Bikash Dunguri (24), Sankar Gilua (34), Jatin Ray (19), and Prince Rao (19). While Gilua hails from Bondamunda, the remaining three are residents of the Plantsite police station area.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid behind Dipti Hotel in Timber Colony on the night of April 13 and 14. The suspects were allegedly preparing to rob nearby houses, shops, and petrol pumps, having gathered there with a variety of deadly weapons, including firearms, swords, bhujalis, and iron rods.

Items seized during the raid include:

  • One firearm (pistol)
  • One iron sword
  • One iron bhujali
  • One iron rod
  • One Royal Enfield Classic Bullet, registration number OD-14-AC-4062
  • One Hero Honda Splendor Plus motorcycle, registration number OR-14-L-9575
  • Five empty beer bottles
  • Two burnt cigarette butts
  • One half-burnt candle
  • One matchbox

The arrested persons are now under investigation.
