4 Arrested For Impersonating Police, Extorting Locals In Kalahandi

Kalahandi: Four men were arrested late Tuesday night for impersonating police officers and extorting money from residents in Palam Chhak under Model Police Station Kesinga in Kalahandi district.

The accused have been identified as Ashish Majhi, Naresh Harijan, Gopal Harijan, and Ajit Sahu, all residents of M. Rampur in Kalahandi.

According to SDPO Sandeep Majhi, the accused had been involved in similar crimes for a long time, targeting people at night by posing as police officers. Police seized the vehicle used by the accused, which was fitted with red and blue flashing LED lights and a siren. Iron rods and grenades were also recovered from their possession.

Impersonating Police

SDPO Majhi added that the vehicle was reportedly used to transport ganja, and investigations are ongoing to identify others involved in the network.

The accused have been produced in court, and the police said further action is underway to apprehend additional suspects linked to the case.
