Berhampur: Police have successfully arrested four individuals in connection with a burglary involving the theft of gold jewelry, cash, and various household items from a residence in the Ralaba Road area under Golanthara Police Station in Ganjam district.
The arrested suspects were identified as Bikash Bisoyi (23) and Silu Nayak (21), both residents of Bhismagiri, Kalia Behera (21) of Bichhapata, and Saras Kumar Nayak (32) of Borosingi.
According to an official press release from the police, the incident occurred on December 12, 2024, at the residence of Surya Narayana Achary (48), when unknown culprits broke into the house and stole valuable gold and silver ornaments, along with a substantial amount of cash.
After the crime was reported, the police, acting on reliable information, were able to apprehend the accused.
During the investigation, the stolen goods, including the gold ornaments, were recovered from the possession of the accused in the presence of witnesses.
The police also discovered that the suspects were involved in a series of similar thefts across different areas within the district.
The accused have been forwarded to court and several stolen items have been seized, including:
- Four mobile handsets
- Rs. 1,40,000 in cash
- Gold ornaments weighing 56 grams, which were pledged at local banks
- One Luminous inverter battery and inverter machine
- Three desktop computers with CPUs, two UPS devices, one water cooler, two color printers, and one water filter
- One black TVS NTIRQ Scooty (Regd. No. OD 07 AR 7909)
- A digital weighing machine
- Various housebreaking tools, including an iron rod
- Documents related to the pledging of stolen gold at SBI (Balipada Branch) and Muthoot Finance, Digapahandi
