Cuttack: Commissionerate Police have arrested four persons in connection with the burglary at Darkhapatna Puja Mandap under Madhupatna police limits. The arrestees include three burglars and a receiver.
The accused have been identified as Piru alias Sk Jahir (50) of Imampara, Sati Chaura; Gora alias Sk Azim (60) of Paramhansa, Sk Haroon (22) of CDA Markatnagar and receiver Jagdish Gujrati (42) of Bayalish Mouza.
Police have recovered 423 gm silver, gold nosepin, one scooter, two mobile phones, Rs 465 in cash and other items from their possession.
“We have successfully cracked the Darkhapatna Puja Mandap burglary case with the arrest of four persons including a receiver. We have recovered the silver extracted from the silver crown of the goddess, the gold nosepin, the scooter used in the crime, iron crowbar, etc from them,” informed Anil Mishra, Addl DCP, Cuttack briefing reporters here today.
Mishra said that police were able to crack the case with the help of CCTV footage and information shared by police informers.
The accused are habitual offenders and have several cases pending against their names in various police stations.
