Malkangiri: Four hard core Maoists were killed on Saturday in an exchange of fire with security personnel in a forested area in Bijapur district of Chhatisgarh on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
According to reports, the exchange of fire took place in Pomara forest under Mitrapur police station limits during a combing operation by CRPF, District Reserve Guards (DRG), and Special Task Force (STF).
Security personnel seized a large number of explosives and guns during the operation.
However, the identities of the slain Maoists have not been ascertained yet.
The search operation has been intensified in the area following the exchange of fire, informed Bijapur SP Anjnei Barji.
