Dhenkanal: Four gangmen were injured after sacks filled with ganja (dry cannabis) fell on them from a moving train between Dhenkanal and Shyamacharanpur station in the wee hours of Sunday.

The injured persons have been identified as Dinesh Swain, Jayprakash Panigarahi, Biranchi Mahapatra and Rajesh Pal.

The incident occured when the four were on night-patrolling duty. Suddenly, three heavy sacks fell from the Sambalpur-Howrah Express and hit them. The four persons sustained injuries on their legs and are currently undergoing treatment at District Headquarter Hospital.

In the morning, over one quintal of Ganja and Bhanga was found from the sacks. It is suspected that the ganja consignment was being illegally transported in the train. Railway Police Force have seized the sacks and further probe into the matter is on.
