Athagarh (Cuttack): At least four persons were killed and one person was critically injured on Monday in a deadly head-on collision between a car and a truck at Nayasadak under Tigiria police limits in Cuttack district.
Four of the five friends who had gone on a pleasure trip died on the spot after being crushed inside the car following the vehicle’s head-on collision with the truck.
According to reports, on being informed Fire Service personnel and policemen from Tigiria rushed to the spot to rescue the victims of the accident. The victims upon rescue were rushed to the Sub Divisional Hospital here.
While four of the victims were declared dead by the attending doctors at the hospital, the critically injured person has been shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack.
The deceased have been identified as Chandan Khatua and Subash Behera of Bindhanima, Babuli Rout of Baneswarpada, and Silu Prusty of Abhimanpur. The critically injured person has been identified as Dipak Sahu of Nuapatna.
Tigiria police have launched an investigation into the matter.
