Bhubaneswar: A clash between villagers of Ramayapatna and Katuru under Golanthara police station limits in Ganjam district led to the arrest of 40 villagers from both villages.
As per reports, the clash erupted when Ramayapatna villagers started excavating the Bahuda River mouth, sparking tensions with neighbouring Katuru villagers. While five people from Katuru sustained injuries, three were from Ramayapatna. Five injured individuals were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, while others were treated at a local hospital. The condition of all the injured was stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, Golanthara police arrested 40 people from the two villages: 21 from Ramayapatana and 19 from Katuru.
To maintain law and order, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been imposed in the area, and three platoons of police force have been deployed. The situation is currently under control, and further investigation is underway.
