Phulbani: Around 400 people of Kumbharipadar, a landslide prone village, in Daringbadi block of Kandhamal district of Odisha were evacuated on Thursday following the warning of heavy rainfall in the area.
As a preventive measure ahead of possible landslide, the villagers were shifted and sheltered at a school at Tamangi and provided with cooked food.
While heavy downpour is continuing in the district for the past few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of further rainfall in the region.
