Cuttack: Flying Squad of the Excise Department today seized 420 gm brown sugar from possession of one Samarendra Mohanty (48) at Fulnakhara bus stop under Cuttack Sadar police limits.
Mohanty, a native of Pateakana under Niali police limits of Cuttack district was arrested following the seizure during the raid. He has been booked under section 21 of the NDPS Act by the Excise Department. The seized brown sugar is estimated to be worth Rs 42 lakh.
Acting on directions of Excise Commissioner Ashish Kumar Singh, Mohanty was intercepted by the department’s flying squad at Fulnakhara bus stop under Cuttack Sadar police limits, while he was waiting for another bus after alighting from a bus from Jaleswar.
The flying squad team comprised Umakanta Swain, Inspector; Natabar Mallick, ASI; Sk. Sakir Ulla, ASI; Braja Kishore Bindhani, ASI; Karna Oram, Excise constable; Gouranga Nayak Ex. constable Dillip Nanda, Rojalin Pattanaik, Ajay Behera, Antaryami RN Mallick and others.
