Bhubaneswar: Residents of the capital city of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and the holy town of Puri woke on Friday morning to find their habitats shrouded under thick fog, which reduced visibility to a few meters and disrupted vehicular movements. The movement of vehicles on the national highways passing through the region was also affected adversely.
A thick layer of fog was witnessed not only in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri but it covered many regions across the state.
Meanwhile, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued fog warnings for several districts, including Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack and Khordha, till January 15.
A yellow warning has been issued for six other districts of the state including Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh and Kandhamal for 24 hours from 8.30 am on January 13.
Seven districts – Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal – were put on yellow warning for dense fog till 8.30 am on January 15.
