Bhubaneswar: A bird flu outbreak has been confirmed in Khordha district, prompting the district administration to launch a culling operation.
According to reports, the outbreak was confirmed after samples tested positive at a lab in Bhopal. As a precautionary measure, around 4,507 chickens were culled at Mundamba village.
The district administration has begun culling chickens in the affected and surrounding areas to prevent further spread of the disease.
Samples were collected from farms within a 10 km radius of the affected area and sent to Bhopal for testing.
The administration has been vigilant and taken prompt action to contain the spread of the disease and ensure that all necessary measures are taken to prevent further outbreaks.
Earlier, bird flu had spread to the Delang area of Puri district, prompting the administration to take swift action. Around 6,000 chickens were culled under the supervision of senior officials at Delang to prevent it from further spreading.
According to reports, poultry deaths were first observed at Delang, but residents were initially unaware of the cause or potential risks. After residents became aware of the possible reason for the deaths of birds, they alerted the animal husbandry department. Blood samples were collected on July 9, and subsequently, the presence of bird flu was confirmed, prompting immediate action to contain the outbreak.
