Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond revealed that a staggering 4,619 primary schools in the state are currently non-operational due to low student enrollment.
This information was provided by the School and Mass Education Minister in response to a query raised by Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy.
The Minister further revealed that out of these closed schools, 46 have been reopened due to an increase in student enrollment. However, there are still five schools with pending applications for reopening, which are currently under consideration by the School and Mass Education Department.
The Minister also provided district-wise list of closed schools, reopened schools, and schools with pending applications has in separate annexures.
