48 Migrant Labourers Including Women, Children Rescued In Balangir

Balangir: Kantabanji police rescued 48 migrant labourers, including 23 women and 8 children while the Dadan Sardar (broker) fled the spot last night.

Reports said that the labour force was being taken to the Kantabanji railway station by the middleman. Acting on a tip-off, the Kantabanji police team raided the station square area. The labourers were being transported to the railway station by autos and pickup van. They were on their way to be engaged at a brick kiln in Telangana.

Police said that the rescued labourers belong to Balangir, Nuapada and Bargarh districts. Further investigation was on.
