Bhubaneswar: As many as 49,098 students dropped out of higher secondary schools in Odisha, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said today.
In response to a question pertaining to school dropout rate in Odisha posed by BJD MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, the Minister said the State’s rate is lower than the National average by .04%.
Out of the 49,098 dropouts, 11,045 are scheduled caste students while 15,792 belong to the scheduled tribe. The highest number of dropouts, 6,731, are in Kalahandi, followed by Koraput 3,587 and Sundergarh 3,426, the data shared by the Minister revealed.
