Bhubaneswar: As many as 499 cases out of the total 581 new Covid-19 cases detected in the city in the last 24 hours (till 9 AM of Jan 8) are local contact cases according to data shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The remaining 82 cases are quarantine cases.
The daily count of new Covid-19 cases in the city registered a marginal drop of 8.93% over the previous day.
However, the city has 2363 active cases of Covid-19 registering a spike of 25.23% over the previous day. The cumulative total of Covid cases in the city has climbed to 1,26,073.
A total of 105 persons have recovered from Covid-19 in the city during the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 1,22,586.
No new fatalities were reported/confirmed from the city, the cumulative total of fatalities due to Covid stood at 1103.
The highest number of new local contact cases was reported from Patia (40), Nayapalli (26), Old Town (16), and Niladri Vihar (16).
