Bhubaneswar: Forest officials on Saturday arrested five armed poachers from the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district.
The accused were found in possession of a country-made firearm, bows, and arrows.
Four of the arrested persons are residents of the Oupada area in Balasore district, while the fifth hails from neighbouring Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, the poachers were allegedly attempting to steal a trap camera installed inside the sanctuary. Their images were captured by another camera, leading to their identification.
Based on this information, a forest team raided an area near the Chemcheta Beat House and apprehended the suspects.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
