Bhubaneswar: Biridi police on Thursday apprehended five armed robbers involved in a violent house robbery in Dandilo village under Biridi Tehsil of Jagatsinghpur district.
The accused, residents of the Tirtol and Biridi areas, were nabbed following a swift police operation.
According to reports, the incident took place late on the night of May 2, 2025, at the residence of Sukant Maharana in Dandilo village.
Two families, who were tenants in the house, were also targeted during the attack. The robbers, reportedly armed with firearms, forcibly entered the premises and looted cash and gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees.
Following complaints filed by the victims at Biridi police station, a special team was formed to investigate the matter. The team conducted raids at multiple locations and successfully arrested the five accused.
During the operation, police recovered one pistol, three mobile phones, two motorcycles, and a substantial quantity of gold and silver ornaments from the possession of the accused.
An investigation is currently underway to determine if the gang is linked to other recent incidents in the region.
