Balangir: Five persons, including a minor, were arrested for robbing a woman of gold ornaments worth lakhs at gunpoint in Balangir district.
The robbery took place near Ghunsar village under Saintala Police Station area on March 8.
The arrested persons have been identified as Pintu Sahoo, Vidya Shankar Sahoo, Pintu Sahu, and Chintamani Sahoo, all from the Saintala area.
According to police reports, the victim, Pandab Pradhan’s wife, was returning home after attending a wedding when the incident occurred.
Four robbers, riding two bikes, stopped her vehicle near College Road. They threatened her with a gun and stole the gold jewelry she was wearing. Pandab Pradhan later filed a complaint with the Saintala Police.
During the investigation, the police discovered that the driver of the rented vehicle the couple had used for the wedding was the mastermind behind the robbery. The driver, along with his four friends, was arrested.
The police seized two bikes, four mobile phones, a country-made gun, and the stolen gold ornaments from the suspects.
