5 Benefits Of State-Of-The-Art Smart City Bhubaneswar Operations Centre

**Bhubaneswar: ** As Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar has already earned the tag of Number One Smart City among its counterparts in our country, the State Administration here has tightened up its belt to make it worth in a true letter and spirit.

As a first step of its concerted efforts, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) is moving towards its smart goals following which it has got its Bhubaneswar Operations Centre (BOC) inaugurated today by the Chief Minister and the BOC is aimed at catering to the hassle-free citizen-centric services in this state capital city.

Highlights of the Five Benefits

1: BOC is first-of-its-kind centralized command and control centre and it will monitor, operate and control existing services of the city.

2: The Adaptive Traffic Signal System, tracking of buses and municipal vehicles (90% of the city buses have already been fitted with the GPS system plus on-board computer. Within a year, all the city buses will be covered)

3: Grievance Redressal System is being operationalised at present from BOC. The 24×7 Toll Free Helpline No – 18003450061.

4: It will control the street lighting system and address the problems.

5: Solid waste management will also be taken up. It will be monitored from here if the garbage is being picked up properly as well as timely and dumped or not.

Informing media BMC Commissioner, BDA Vice-Chairman & Bhubaneswar Smart City SPV MD Krishan Kumar said, “Now one or two services will be added up in every two months. In the given two years of stint, all services will be catered to. Representatives of all departments will be available here for meeting the emergencies in the city.”

As per the BSCL press note, BOC is envisaged to be developed further in a manner to keep an eye on several functions like traffic management, incident management, city surveillance, emergency services and disaster management.

The state-of-the-art BOC includes a massive video wall of more than 80-foot length (with 16 x 2 configuration of 70 inch panels) and will be used to monitor the large volume of close circuit television (CCTV) footage and highly sophisticated sensor data.

It will provide a digital platform for integrating multiple city sub-systems of parking, public transport, and Common Payment Card along with Effective Emergency Response Management for the city.
