5 Common People Who Changed Their Course Of Lives By Sheer Determination

1: Matric Pass After 42 Attempts, Dhenkanal Man Clears LLB At 65

A 65-year-old man from Dhenkanal district is in the spotlight as even after attempting the matriculation examination 42 times he studied further and finally completed a Law degree.

Trilochan Naik of Parikheda village under Sogarapasi gram panchayat under Sadar block of Dhenkanal district had first attempted his matriculation examination in the year 1972 at Banasingh High School in Dhenkanal.

He cleared the Matriculation examination in 1993 in his 42nd attempt. But he did not stop there but pursued Plus Two at Dhenkanal College and also cleared it after 10 attempts.

Subsequently, Naik joined graduation at Dhenkanal Evening College and cleared it successfully without any delay.

After graduation, he sought admission at Dhenkanal Law College but due to the unavailability of seats, he joined Shri Biswaguru Law College in Cuttack from where he completed his LLB last year.

2: Traditional Woman YouTuber From Odisha Breaks Stereotypes

A woman YouTuber from Odisha has been breaking stereotypes through many of her videos proving that women living in rural areas are by no means inferior to others. Videos of her adventures, from riding a horse to driving a truck and tractor, while adorning a saree, are going viral on the Internet.

Monalisa Bhadra, the wife of Badri Narayan Bhadra of Jahal village in Jajpur, is not only famous for her adventures but also for her love and affection for monkeys and other animals. She is earning lakhs of rupees per month through her videos on YouTube with the support of her husband and mother-in-law.

While being a housewife, she has been able to attract people by riding a horse, driving a truck, bus and tractor. Her first video was uploaded by Badri on YouTube in 2016 which garnered a lot of likes from viewers. Till date, around 2.26 million people have subscribed to the channel.

3: ASHA Worker From Odisha’s Sundargarh Features In Forbes India List 2021

W-Power Matilda Kullu from Sundargarh district of Odisha is a Covid Warrior and one among the strong women personalities in the country who have featured in the Forbes India W-Power 2021 list.

Working as an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) for Gargadbahal village in Baragaon tehsil of the district for the last 15 years, Kullu has been instrumental in bringing the healthcare system closer to the people.

As reported by Forbes India, Kullu starts her day at 5, finishing household chores, preparing lunch for the family of four, and feeding the cattle before hopping on to her cycle to start her day with door-to-door visits.

It has never been an easy task for the 45-year-old who has faced many challenges such as superstition, casteism, and untouchability. She had to educate the villagers to stop relying on black magic and to treat themselves and take appropriate medical routes.

4:Cuttack College Girl Sets Example As Zomato Delivery Agent

As many families have lost the means of earning their livelihood due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a college girl in Cuttack city has set an example by taking up the work of a food delivery agent to sustain her family.

Bishnupriya Swain (18), a student of +2 Science in Shailabala Women’s College, is the eldest daughter of a driver who was sitting idle at home due to the Covid-induced lockdown. She has two young sisters.

In order to sustain her family, Bishnupriya contacted the Zomato authorities and started working as a food delivery agent on a part-time basis. She gives tuition to children till 10 AM and after taking her breakfast she leaves for her delivery work.

While also being a meritorious student, Bishnupriya has taken the burden of the family on her shoulders. She has learned two-wheeler riding and delivers food on the motorcycle of her father. She does not ask for anyone’s help.

She is reportedly the first food delivery agent in Cuttack. She has earned praises from everyone for her work. Stating that no work is small, Bishnupriya said that she will give her best to keep her family happy always.

5: Daily Wager From Odisha Earning Lakhs From YouTube

Coming from a tribal society, Munda belongs to Babupali village in Sambalpur district. He used to earn his livelihood by working as a labourer. But due to the lockdown triggered by COVID-19, his work was badly hampered. It was during this period he started his own Youtube channel and promoted local cuisines. Today, he his earning handsomely with many creative videos posted on the Internet.
Isak saw a video on YouTube explaining how one can earn from the platform.

Following it, he decided to start his own YouTube channel. He sold his phone and bought a smartphone in installments. From there he started his YouTube journey with the channel ‘Isak Munda Eating’ that has garnered around 7.4 lakh subscribers.

Isak makes videos about his eating habits, life, community, and culture. His videos are being watched by people from across 55 countries and the channel is fetching him lakhs of rupees every month. Many fans have also helped him build his house.
His efforts were mentioned by PM Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
